What they do: 1.3 billion people lack access to electricity. Close to 1 billion are drinking unsanitary water. And 4 million people, mostly women and children, die annually from indoor air pollution due to burning wood and charcoal for cooking.
Rural Community Based Organizations (CBOs), which are grassroots organizations created by members of the community, know these problems well. Solar energy, non-electric water filters, improved biomass cookstoves, and fuel briquettes are all modern low-cost technologies that can solve these problems. ENVenture incubates and trains these organizations to enable them to become last mile distributors for these essential technologies. We want everyone to easily access a quality clean energy technology for their home without having to travel far from their community.
